Si Ma Tai offers a more authentic and less crowded Great Wall experience than the heavily restored and much more well known Badaling Great Wall. If you have the time and energy, you can even hike 8 kilometers from Si Ma Tai to Jin Shan Ling - it will be a great view and workout!

"Love it. Done it 3 times"

...and i'd do it again. Each time i did the Jinshaling to Simatai hike.  You can add on a few kilometers if you go beyond the jinshalingstart point.  I believe the hike is more than 10km though.  Not just 8km.
