When I was traveling in Asia a few years ago, I realized that the impression of a city that I got from reading travel guides was often very different from what I felt after actually seeing and experiencing the city. While there were some pleasant surprises, there were times when I felt like I would have skipped a certain sight or attraction if I had known what it was really like. I also suspect that there were probably some fun things to do or cool sights that I missed, simply because their descriptions in the travel guide didn't jive with me.
This problem made me think about creating a highly visual travel guide that would use pictures & videos to give people a much better sense of a city's attractions than words alone can convey. After all isn't a picture worth a thousand words : ) That was how I was inspired to create this website - Funtouristattractions.com is a highly visual travel guide that brings the coolest attractions worldwide to life with pictures, videos and other fun interactive features!
About myself: I am a technologist with a passion for travel and new experiences. I grew up in Asia, went to school in the US, then worked in Microsoft for a few years before leaving to scratch a longtime entrepreneurial itch. Cities I've lived in include Beijing, Singapore, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Boston and Austin. My favorite travel destinations are: Whistler for the awesome snowboarding, Thailand for its beautiful beaches, Sipadan for its amazing diving, and China for the good food & fascinating culture.
